Thanks to Robin, I, as a johnny-come-lately technically, have a blog. Nevertheless, the Along the Shore week has been most rewarding–especially for one who had never been to Brooklyn before. I’m waterlogged with information that I will have to sort out back home. As a film instructor who has taught “On the Waterfront” numerous times, I was, of course, especially pleased that the workshop directors chose that appropriate film. I was disappointed that the presenter was cut short of time to present the film. In fact, I suggest that “Waterfront” would be an effective way for instructors to introduce students in humanities, history, sociology, English, and other disciplines to the kinds of things we have been investigating in the Workshop. At some point I would be interested in providing a detailed “introduction” to the film that I think would have considerable surprise value to you and your students.
